STARTING JULY 2019: RUNNING ACROSS AUSTRALIA
Ten years after her record run across America, Katie will be running across Australia starting July 20, 2019. The route begins on the northern coast in Darwin and heads south to Adelaide, through the Tanami, Central, and Simpson deserts. Instead of the ease of using vehicle support, her husband Henley Phillips will be supporting Katie on bicycle, peddling up to four hundred pounds of gear, food, and water at a time. The 2,112-mile run will take an estimated four months to complete and will be the only known time (OKT) for a bicycle-supported transcontinental run across Australia. Her purpose is to show a message to herself and others - let courage win, curiosity is extremely powerful and can be trusted, and to not, for one second, let fear undermine your dreams.
Katie Visco, who has been called a "bubbly and offbeat running, biking, soup-making, people-loving, community-building exclamation mark," has boundless energy to do new things, meet new people, and make the world a better place. She started running when she was in middle school, duped into the sport thinking it was some kind of soccer conditioning camp. Oops. She quickly fell in love with running, and then...
Donate to my run across Australia:
Here's some perspective:
- $30 = food for Katie and Henley for one day
- $50 = a month's worth of health and nutrition support for Katie's training
- $125 = 1 hour of plane travel to Australia for Katie and Henley
- $200 = a huge help towards a camera so we can document the trip and share photos when we return!
